'Noles face similar BCS path

Suddenly, that loss to Miami isn't so painful. The Seminoles opened at No. 5 this week in the first BCS standings of the season -- a position that has a familiar ring. That's where FSU was ranked when the BCS standings were first released in 1998 and 2000. The Seminoles ended up in the national championship game both times, losing to Tennessee in the 1999 Fiesta Bowl and to Oklahoma in the 2001 Orange Bowl.
Starting center David Castillo is feeling rejuvenated about an ankle injury that has been bothering him since the day he learned to walk, or at least as far back as August. He found relief in the same kind of shock-absorbing ankle brace Chris Weinke wore to play on a painfully sore ankle in the '00 loss at Miami.
In fact, FSU lost to Miami in '00 before edging the Hurricanes for the Orange Bowl bid on the basis of strength of schedule.
