Rice loses, but makes 'new friends'

School officials had telephoned before arriving, hoping something could be
worked out and all those bikini-clad models could find another hotel in
which to strut their stuff. But they couldn't and so Rice players and
coaches shared their residence in Hawaii with contestants from the Miss
Tropicana Pageant.
Tough life.
"It was quite a show for the four days
we were there," said Rice coach Ken Hatfield. "I don't know if our players
got any pictures of the winners, but they still got some nice ones. They met
some new friends."
