Coach Tom Craft realizes his team's impressive showing at Ohio State will only pay dividends if San Diego State continues to play well. "It's something to build on," said Craft of the 16-13 loss in Columbus. "But we have to follow it up now by continuing to improve. If we don't, nobody will remember what we did weeks from now."
The Aztecs' first opportunity comes at Texas-El Paso on Saturday. SDSU has the forgettable history to prove it can't overlook any opponent, but Craft still must guard against a letdown when his team meets the hapless Miners, who are coming off a home defeat to I-AA Cal Poly. "(Upsets) happen every week in college football," he said. "We have to go there with good focus."
