But first, the largest remaining mystery of the college football regular season. Is there one big surprise in store? Will USC stumble? Can Iowa State pull off a stunner for the ages against OU? Will short-handed Tennessee avenge a home blowout by Auburn?

If not, one group of fans will forget all they have to be thankful for this season and direct venom at a BCS system that has again failed to solve the championship puzzle. That's the shame of it all.

The Sooners and Tigers have already accomplished the extraordinary: perfect regular seasons in very punishing conferences But their fans seem unable to savor it for a second because of the focus on the BCS logjam at the top. At ESPN, we're just as guilty as anyone.
