What is your opinion on N.C. State running back T.A. McLendon's decision to enter the draft as a junior? What is his stock?
Chip, Raleigh, S.C.
KIPER: It's a risky move for McLendon, because this year's running back class could be so deep. Cedric Benson of Texas and Ronnie Brown and Carnell Williams of Auburn are at the top of the draft board right now, with very little separating them from each other. Florida junior Ciatrick Fason has said he's entering the draft, and there is also the possibility two other brilliant juniors – Memphis' DeAngelo Williams and Oklahoma State's Vernand Morency – could also. McLendon would rank behind all six of them.

Running backs usually come of the board later than they should, because most teams are well-fortified with a good back in the starting lineup, and no one is going to take a guy in the first round to be a backup. Add McLendon's durability/injury problems to the mix, and he becomes a possible first-day choice, even with his impressive potential.
