Lawrence to replace Caulley
The Connecticut Huskies were dealt a severe blow on Saturday when standout RB Terry Caulley was lost for the season with a knee injury. But keep in mind that the gem of Randy Edsall's recruiting class this past season was talented RB Matt Lawrence out of Bloomfield High in Connecticut. This is the same school that produced the DE Dwight Freeney as well as RB's Andrew Pinnock and Jermelle Lewis. Lawrence is blessed with a great deal of ability and now has a chance to become a key component for the Huskies.

Browner leading Oregon State secondary
After losing starting CB's Dennis Weathersby and Terrell Roberts to graduation, new Oregon State head coach Mike Riley knew full well that the challenge on defense was finding ways to matchup in coverage. Well, based on the early returns, Riley and the defensive staff have to be thrilled with the progress shown by redshirt freshman Brandon Browner. The athletically gifted corner is coming off a huge effort on Saturday against Arizona State when he intercepted three passes while breaking up seven others.

This type of performance is nothing new for Browner. At the prep level in California, he finished his career with 16 interceptions, while also totaling 24 TD grabs and averaging nearly 30 yards per catch as a WR. Knowing the value of shut down CB's, it's easy to see why Browner is fast becoming a young defensive star who will garner a great deal of national publicity in the not too distant future.
