JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Confident, relaxed and definitely on their game.Cornell lived up to its billing as the best team to come out of the Ivy League in more than a decade, and now the senior-heavy Big Red have a chance for a nice run in the East Regional of the NCAA tournament.
• Behind Louis Dale's 21 points and seven assists, Ryan Wittman's 20 points, Cornell earned its first NCAA tournament win (now 1-16) and snaps the Ivy League's 12-game skid in the tournament.
• It was the Ivy's first victory since Princeton won a first-round game as a No. 5 seed in 1998.
• Juan Fernandez and Ryan Brooks had 14 points each to lead Temple, which got no closer than six points and trailed by as many as 19 in the second half.
• The Owls lost in the first round for the third straight season. Temple coach Fran Dunphy is 1-12 as a coach in NCAA tournament games, having lost 11 straight.
