COACH AND PROGRAM
Southern has not won a Southwestern Athletic Conference men's basketball championship since 1993. Considering the Jaguars' past success in men's hoops and the school's nearly across-the-board success in other sports, it's almost hard to believe. Yet it's true. Some close observers of the league think this just may be the year Southern breaks that title drought. Count second-year coach Michael Grant among those. "I'd say we're about due," Grant said, smiling. "It's looking pretty good. I'll say this: If we don't win it, we should be close to it."
