COACH AND PROGRAM
Perhaps no team in the SWAC lost more than Prairie View. That may not be such a bad thing, considering that last year, the Panthers won only seven games, finished next-to-last in the conference and missed out on the league's postseason tournament. This was one year removed from winning the SWAC regular season championship-the program's first since 1962-in Jerry Francis' first season. Some of the departed players graduated, some left because they were disgruntled, some were shown the door by Francis for various reasons. Whatever the reason, Prairie View fans would be well served to buy a program at their first game. "We're going to have a whole new roster," Francis said. "I'm bringing in a whole new crew."
