An unusual off-season for the Purdue basketball program began with 67-year-old Gene Keady nearly accepting the head coaching job at the University of San Francisco.
Then Keady announced he would stay with the Boilermakers a final season to help groom his replacement, former Southern Illinois coach Matt Painter.
