Team preview: Jacksonville
Blue Ribbon Illustrated previews the 2004-05 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
After 36 years of stomping every sideline in the southeastern United States and many more elsewhere the only things retiring about Hugh Durham are his analogies.
The only man in NCAA history to be the all-time winningest coach at three different schools, Durham puts his own backspin on the bottom line. On summarizing the 2003-04 season, Jacksonville's director of athletics/men's basketball coach reached into his bag and pulled out this nine-iron: "If a guy is in the middle of the fairway, 150 yards out, knocks it up within 20 feet and three-putts, that's a bad bogey. If a guy knocks it in the water, brings it out and knocks it up to two feet and puts it in, that's a good bogey.
