Team preview: Liberty
Blue Ribbon Illustrated previews the 2004-05 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
A miracle? Divine intervention? Or great timing?
Liberty's charge to the school's first Big South title in 10 years was unforeseen early last season as coach Randy Dunton mixed an influx of new talent with some old hands. Then the Flames scorched up the Big South landscape, winning 11 of their last 13 games before Jameer Nelson and St. Joe's doused them in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
"We beat them up with a tough non-conference schedule and they showed flashes," Dunton said. "We got rolling in conference play."
