The Panthers are eligible for the Big South Conference Tournament for the first time, and they just may be the favorite in the league this season.
Only a couple of years removed from NAIA competition, Birmingham-Southern has a real shot at the BSC title this year and the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
"It has been difficult," veteran Coach Duane Reboul said of the process of moving to Division I that began in 2000. "Now to be in a position to compete for the championship is a great opportunity."
