Team preview: McNeese State
Blue Ribbon Illustrated previews the 2004-05 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
McNeese State will take on a new look when the Cowboys hit the court in 2004-05. Gone are four starters off last season's squad that won six of its last seven games, only to still miss out on the conference tournament for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
A fifth starter, leading scorer Edward Garriet (14.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.9 apg), is also questionable for action. The 6-1, 193-pound guard, who averaged a league-leading 3.3 treys per game and ranked eighth in the SLC after making 38.5 percent (89-of-231) from long range last season, has petitioned the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility after being academically ineligible as a freshman. His status wasn't to be determined until early fall.
