Last year, UTSA rode the hot hand of Leroy Hurd in winning a share of its first Southland Conference regular-season championship since 1991-92 and earning its second NCAA Tournament berth in five seasons.

Although the trip to Seattle for a first-round match-up against then No. 1 Stanford resulted in a 71-45 loss, the benefits of going to the Big Dance were many for a program that often gets lost in the shuffle in its own city.
