It was a grand year for the Buccaneers, who went 15-1 in the Southern Conference, won 27 games, captured their second straight league tournament title, and came within inches of upsetting Cincinnati in the first round of the NCAA.

That 80-77 defeat was perhaps the only disappointment, considering it was the second year in a row the team lost by three (Wake Forest was the near upset victim in 2003) in the opening round. If anything, Buc fans expected the next step to be an NCAA victory.
