COACH AND PROGRAM

It might not be fair, but first-year coach Joe Scott knows that. Inheriting a team that won the Ivy League crown at 13-1 last season and graduated just one player in starting guard Ed Persia, the expectations are simple: Win the Ivy League and advance to the NCAA Tournament.

However, Scott, isn't shying away from those expectations.

"This team had a very successful year, obviously going to the NCAA Tournament," Scott said. "But I think this team can be better. There are high expectations that I have for this group of players. I feel really good they have the same high level of expectations."

Scott, hired to succeed John Thompson, who departed for Georgetown after four seasons at Princeton, coached one of the feel-good stories of 2003-04 in Air Force.

In his fourth year with the Falcons, Scott led them to their first NCAA Tournament berth in 42 years behind a program-record 22 wins. Just a year earlier, Air Force's 12 wins were a program-best.
