Team preview: Norfolk State
Blue Ribbon Illustrated previews the 2003-04 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
One of the biggest, if not the biggest, surprises in the MEAC last year was the play of Norfolk State.
The Spartans finished with a 14-15 overall record and were competitive in the MEAC with a 10-8 mark. They came very close to ending Hampton's two-year reign as MEAC champions in the quarterfinals of the league tournament before falling, 64-62. If Norfolk State could have avoided a home loss to North Carolina A&T late in the year (the Aggies' only win of the year), the Spartans would have had a winning season.
