Team preview: Marshall
Blue Ribbon Illustrated previews the 2003-04 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
That rumbling heard from Marshall's Thundering Herd last spring was the stampede of change within the program.
First, 6-5 junior shooting guard Ronald Blackshear (20.3 ppg, .370 3PT, .888 FT), the team's leading scorer, declared for the NBA draft in April. Then head coach Greg White left Huntington in early June-two and a half months after assurances from athletic director Bob Marcum that White would return for his eighth season at Marshall-to assume the same position at the University of Charleston. The move to the Division II school was made, White said, so he could spend more time with his family.
