With two postseason berths in two seasons, there are many who will argue that the Rob Lanier Era got off to a running start at Siena, but Lanier knows better.

The last six games of his first season were far better than the first 30 as the seventh-seeded Saints put together a stunning four-game run to win the MAAC Tournament on their own Pepsi Arena floor and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. A victory over Alcorn State in the play-in game and respectable loss to eventual national champion Maryland left everyone in New York's Capitol District feeling good about 2002-03.
