Oregon received its best recruitng news in years when Jonathan Stewart, the nation's top running back prospect, gave his verbal commitment to the Ducks on Friday.
In a year of great running backs, Stewart stands out. The 5-11, 220-pounder reminds me of a young Bo Jackson. He has uncanny balance, a great burst, tremendous strength, vision and desire. The good-sized back from Lacey (Timberline), Wash. is very difficult to tackle once he gets a full head of steam.
Stewart also shows good change of direction skills. This season he rushed for over 1,900 yards and 28 TDs, while averaging over 11 yards per carry. He also returned a punt back for a score. Stewart was voted the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Washington.
