A good number of the top prospects in the Houston area met me at Reliant Stadium where we enjoyed a good time looking over the facilities and marveling at the size of the structure. It dwarfs the Astrodome, which lies across the street, and has to be the largest stadium I've ever seen. I also made stops in Port Arthur, Beaumont, Deer Park and a few other stops in the area.
The state's top running back prospect is Jamaal Charles (6-1, 200) from Port Arthur Memorial. Charles, who is without a doubt also one of the top prospects in the country, averaged over 8 yards per carry as a junior, while totaling over 2,000 yards and 27 TDs. He's also been timed at 10.4 in the 100 meters. Charles is committed to the Texas Longhorns.
Jamaal Charles scored 27 TDs in 2003.
