Class of 2005 evokes Class of 1986

CHICAGO -- The February 1986 signing day was a great time for Chicago area football. That season 130 players signed Division I scholarships. By the time 1990 rolled around, 17 of those players had been drafted into the NFL, including Russell Maryland, the number one pick in 1991 draft.
As far as prep football talent is concerned, 2004 appears to be a similar year. There will be over 100 ballplayers receiving Division I scholarships from the Chicago area this season, and there does appear to be several ballplayers with possible NFL futures.
