Receivers highlight weak Alabama class

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Alabama's Class of 2004 was loaded with football talent. In fact, at this time last year there were at least 40 prospects from the state receiving significant interest from SEC schools. It's a different story this year, as the well appears to have run dry. Right now, I find it hard to find 20 players in the state that I can definitely say are SEC caliber.
There are still a few blue chippers in the state, but when you talk about quality and depth, Alabama just does not have it this year. The one exception to that rule is the tight end position, where the state has no fewer than four possible All-American candidates.
