Notes: Former McDonald's All-American. Was considered a top NBA draft prospect during his freshman and sophomore seasons. However, after Jay Williams left Duke, Duhon's game started falling apart.
Upside: A pure point guard with great fundamentals and floor vision. A smart player on both ends of the floor. A gritty, tough defender. An excellent athlete who runs the floor well. Great stamina. Toward the end of the season was playing close to 40 minutes a night.
Downside: What happened to his offense? After showing promise during his freshman and sophomore seasons, he's struggled to get the ball in the basket. He doesn't have NBA three range on his jumper. A mediocre free throw shooter who will go entire games without getting to the line. An excellent athlete, but not very explosive.
Insider Projection: We've been hearing some nice things about Duhon lately that suggest that he'll be drafted and have a chance to stick in the league. His gritty performance in the NCAA tournament helped his stock. Scouts still contend that he has the athleticism, intelligence and court vision to be a good pro, but he's just not the type of player who you ask to run your team 30 minutes a game. His poor play in the Chicago pre-draft camp, however, will stifle some of that buzz. Expect him to go somewhere in the second and then expect him to make a roster.
