With Carter, Nets opt to copy Sonics, Suns

In one fell swoop, the Nets simultaneously took the league's two hottest trade commodities, Vince Carter and Jason Kidd, off the block on Friday.
After the offseason trades of Kenyon Martin and Kerry Kittles, Kidd expressed his displeasure with the direction the Nets were taking and privately demanded a trade.
Nets owner Bruce Ratner, on Friday, gave Kidd the most serious indication yet that he's willing to do what is necessary to keep him in New Jersey. The Carter trade proves that Ratner's willing to spend the cash to build a championship contender around Kidd.
