Eight teams vying for Kidd
- Jason Kidd came back to the Nets on Monday night. The question is for how long?
After a rusty first half in which Kidd was trying to get his bearings after sitting out the last eight months with microfracture knee surgery, he looked like his old self. After sitting out the season's first 16 games, Kidd had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes in helping the Nets edge the Raptors. (Tuesday night, in 20 minutes, Kidd had another 10 points and two assists in New Jeresey's 103-97 loss in Cleveland.)
Call him the liquid plumber. He got the Nets' backed-up offense flowing again.
Kidd pushed the ball up the floor at every occasion in the second half and dished out the final assist of the game to Richard Jefferson, who sank the game-winning shot with 7.1 seconds left in the game.
"I don't know any other human being that could stay out for eight months and have knee surgery and play like that," head coach Lawrence Frank said after the game. "Think about this: He was hitting huge pressure shots and made the game-winning pass. I've said it a long time. You're just not going to see any better."
Sure. But how long will he be doing it in a Nets uniform?
