Are there any charges for ESPN Alerts?ESPN Alerts are free of charge; however, standard text messaging rates may apply. Please contact your wireless provider if you have questions regarding your SMS service.

How are ESPN Alerts delivered?ESPN Alerts are delivered via text message to your mobile phone’s inbox. If you subscribe to ESPN MVP via Verizon Wireless V Cast service, you may choose to receive your Alerts via the MVP Alerts inbox. Please click here to learn more about the ESPN MVP.

Is my mobile phone able to receive Alerts?Any mobile device that can receive text messages (SMS service) is able to receive ESPN Alerts provided you have a text messaging service plan from a participating wireless service provider. Please contact your wireless provider if you have questions regarding your SMS service. See "Can I get ESPN Alerts with my wireless service?" for a list of participating carriers.

What Alerts will I receive?You choose which Alerts you want to receive. ESPN Alerts offers scores, news, and personalized Fantasy information delivered to your mobile phone.

How do I add an Alert?To set your Alert preferences, log into My Alerts on ESPN.com and go to the Add Alert section. Each Alert type has a brief description for your information. Click on the type of Alert you’d like to receive and follow the prompts on-screen to confirm set-up.

How do I know if there is a new Alert available?New Alert types are offered frequently, especially when there is a special event such as playoffs, draft, tournaments, etc. Return to My Alerts often to view the current Alerts offering.

Are ESPN Alerts delivered outside of the US?Not at this time. ESPN Alerts are currently delivered to US wireless subscribers only.

What are ESPN MVP Alerts?ESPN MVP Alerts are delivered via the ESPN MVP in a rich media format which creates an enhanced experience by including graphics, video, and links to other MVP content such as GameCast. MVP Alerts are free of charge, however, standard text messaging rates may apply. Verizon Wireless V Cast service is required in order to download the free ESPN MVP application. What if I want to cancel Alerts?To end your free subscription to ESPN Alerts please follow one of the following procedures:
  1. (RECOMMENDED) Log into My Alerts. Click the "Suspend All" button to stop receiving Alerts. You can re-instate your Alerts by logging into your ESPN Alerts and clicking "Activate All" at any time.
  2. If you do not plan to reactivate your Alerts account, text the word STOP to shortcode 79710. You will receive a confirmation text message in response.

What if I want to stop getting a type of Alert?To set your Alert preferences, log into My Alerts and locate the Alert you want to suspend or delete in the Current Alerts section and click "Delete" or "Suspend" to deactivate the preference. If you need assistance with setting your Alert preferences, please contact ESPN Customer Care by calling 1.888.549.ESPN (3776).

What’s the difference between "suspending" an Alert and "deleting" an Alert?Both "deleting" and "suspending" an Alert will block any messages of that type from being sent to your mobile phone. "Deleting" will remove the Alert preference from your Current Alerts list, while "Suspending" Alerts will only disable the Alert preference and allow you to easily re-activate at any time.

I stopped my Alerts service. How do I get it back?To re-instate your Alerts service, visit My Alerts. Click "Activate All" to reinstate all of the Alerts in the Current Alerts section. To re-instate only some Alerts, scroll through the Current Alerts section and click "Enable" for the particular Alert.

What if I don’t want Alerts during a particular time of day?You can choose to receive Alerts during specific times of the day. To modify your Alerts, visit My Alerts and find the Alert you wish to modify in the Current Alerts section. Click the "Modify" link next to the Alert preference you wish to edit and follow the on-screen prompts.

What are Fantasy Alerts?Fantasy Alerts allow you to track your ESPN.com Fantasy team with your mobile phone. The following Fantasy Alerts are available for ESPN.com Fantasy players:
  • Personalized Substitution Alert - sent on Thursday to recommend changes to your active roster based on Hector & Victor predictions
  • Personalized Injury Alert - sent on Sunday to notify you of potential injuries in your starting lineup
  • Personalized Scoring Alert - sent during NFL games when one of your players makes a scoring play (TD, PAT, FG) - includes the total points for your current match-up
  • Fantasy Football News - sent when important news breaks for Fantasy players such as key player injuries, 100 yards rushing /300 yards passing
To sign up for Fantasy Alerts, log into My Alerts and select the Fantasy Alert you’d like to receive from the Fantasy Alerts tab in the Add an Alert section. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your Fantasy team.

How many Alerts will I receive each week?ESPN Alerts are customizable by you. With scoring Alerts, you choose the frequency of the updates you want to receive. With news Alerts, updates are sent as newsworthy events occur that are relevant to sports fans. Some weeks may have more breaking stories than others and since your Alerts are sent as news happens, it will not be the same every week. See "What is the difference between Breaking News and News by Sport" for further clarification.

What is the difference between Breaking News and News by Sport?A Breaking News Alert is sent when something newsworthy occurs that is important to sports fans. News by Sport is sent when something occurs in a particular sport. We recommend you sign up for Breaking News for general updates and News by Sport if you want to be kept up to date with a particular sport / league.

If I have an idea for an Alert type not offered, who can I tell?Log into My Alerts and click on the Feedback Link that is located on the top of every page and also in the lower right-hand corner of the My Alerts page. ESPN reads and considers every comment and request we receive. Please tell us how we can make ESPN Alerts better for you.

I am subscribed to Alerts on my ESPN MVP. Why am I not receiving any messages?Your handset does not have a notification icon for missed messages received via ESPN MVP. To view missed messages, start the ESPN MVP on your Verizon V Cast handset. Click the Alerts icon in the Sideline and select "View My Alerts Inbox". Your Alerts should appear. If no Alerts appear, please contact ESPN Customer Care by calling 1.888.549.ESPN (3776).
