Mazzaro holds White Sox to three hits in 6 1/3 innings in his major league debut
CHICAGO -- Once Vin Mazzaro got past a nervous start, he looked right at home in his major league debut.
Mazzaro pitched into the seventh inning and Matt Holliday hit a three-run double to lead the Oakland Athletics to a 5-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.Mazzaro, who had his contract purchased from Triple-A Sacramento before the game, helped end Chicago's season-high, four-game winning streak and handed the White Sox their fourth loss in 14 games.Fast Facts
• Oakland's second win in its last seven games snapped Chicago's four-game win streak.
• Vin Mazzaro pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings in his debut, the first Oakland pitcher to throw six-plus shutout innings in his debut since Aaron Harang in 2002.
