Mathis, Quiroz tops among catchers
The Angels' Jeff Mathis leads the list of catchers in the minor leagues.

While Johnny Estrada, Miguel Olivo, Gerald Laird, Victor Martinez and Joe Mauer are among the top young catchers in the majors, there are plenty more waiting for their chance in the minor leagues.
Below is a list of the minors' top 10 catching prospects:
1. Jeff Mathis, Angels
Was recruited by Florida State as a quarterback, along with Joe Mauer, but turned down the Seminoles' two-sport offer. Has drawn comparisons to Jason Kendall and Mike Lieberthal for his athleticism, agility and offensive ceiling.
