Ichiro not in Sisler's class

Ichiro is the single-season hits king, but he isn't nearly the same player George Sisler was.

Let's make this real easy for everybody: There's only one problem with this equation: It's incorrect. Life is not so simple, at least not in this particular case. If you want to know who Ichiro is chasing, then you have to take a trip roughly 80 years into the past. And if you go, one of the first things you'll discover is that once you get past all those base hits, Ichiro Suzuki isn't nearly the hitter that George Sisler was.

In 1920, Sisler collected 257 hits, which still stands as the all-time record (at least for the moment). Sisler also batted .407 to win the American League batting title. Ichiro isn't going to top .400, but he almost certainly will win the American League batting title.
