The Red Sox sweeping the A's highlighted the action, but there was plenty more to discuss from Wednesday's action.

7:42 p.m. ET: TYRO TWIRLERS: Great night for incredibly talented young pitchers. Johan Santana's pitching for the Twins, Josh Beckett for the Marlins, Zack Greinke for the Royals, and Gavin Floyd for the Phillies. You should already know about Santana -- he's the best pitcher in the American League this season -- but I'll check in during the course of the evening with the other three (assuming the weather in Detroit allows Greinke to pitch). Meanwhile, Roger Clemens has already run his record to 16-4 with a 3.19 ERA, further insinuating himself into the Cy Young discussion. Me, I'd vote for Randy Johnson. But somehow I can't see too many voters going for the guy with the losing record.
