Dodgers 'saber' the moment
Many experts said the Dodgers unnecessarily gambled at the trade deadline, but that just doesn't add up.

I missed everything. With an obscene lack of foresight, I scheduled a three-day, phone-less and TV-less vacation for last weekend, which just happened to be baseball's most important weekend before late September. Now, it's Wednesday, and I'm still trying to catch up. Still trying to figure out if the Red Sox really traded for Doug Mientkiewicz, or it's just a trick somebody's playing on me. Still trying to figure out why the Padres didn't do anything worth mentioning, and why the Phillies did less than that.
Most of all, though, I'm trying to figure out why so many of my colleagues rushed to the bizarre judgment that young Paul DePodesta somehow got hoodwinked by Larry Beinfest. After Googling Dodgers + trade, this is the first thing I read:
