Olerud's bat expired
The Yankees think John Olerud will be a useful addition, but in reality Olerud's bat hasn't been an asset for a while.

I came across the following in a popular newspaper this morning ... "Even if his bat has slowed, John Olerud can help the Yankees simply by his presence."
Right. His presence certainly did help the Mariners this season, didn't it? Olerud was removed from the 25-man roster on July 15; at that moment, the Mariners' record was 33-54. In fact, Olerud was one of the biggest reasons for their terribly disappointing season.
