Red Sox need to sign Nomar

The Red Sox have a storied history, and they need to ensure that Nomar Garciaparra remains part of that history.

Shortstop Nomar Garciaparra has yet to play a game for the Boston Red Sox this season due to tendinitis in his right Achilles. He also happens to be eligible for free agency at the end of this season.

That isn't the best combination of circumstances for a player in a contract year. But even though the Red Sox have played well without him -- they're tied with the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East -- I believe it's important for management to keep Garciaparra in Boston.
