2 Canyon Del Oro (Tucson, AZ)12-02Behind pitcher Kenzie Fowler, Canyon del Oro is undefeated so far this season. The team has outscored its opponents 117-1 in only 12 games. With Fowler on the mound and at the plate and with Katie Asher in the field and in the lineup, this squad is the team to beat in Arizona this season.
3 Klein Oak (Spring, TX)16-08While preseason Texas No. 1 Bowie has stumbled, No. 2 Klein Oak has dominated. Pitcher Bree Brown is keeping opposing batters at bay with a 0.16 ERA and 148 strikeouts in 87 innings pitched.
4 Norco Senior (Norco, CA)5-07Stanford-bound Teagan Gerhart was named MVP of the Tournament of Champions in Arizona. She pitched three shutouts in the event and the Cougars outscored their opponents by a 22-3 margin.
5 William S. Hart (Newhall, CA)9-014Destiny Rodino is the ace of the Hart team, which has collected its nine early wins against teams in the San Fernando Valley area of the state.
6 Red Mountain (Mesa, AZ)11-0NRA new addition to the FAB 50, Red Mountain was overlooked in the preseason but has proven that it will be a contender for the Class 5A state title. The team did not give up a run in its first 10 games and has depth on the mound.
7 Naples (Naples, FL)13-13The state's No. 1 ranked Class 4A team handed the top-ranked Class 6A team,Timber Creek of Orlando, its first loss last week by 1-0 in a 9-inning thriller.The only loss was an early season setback to long-time state power Bartow when All-American pitcher Jackie Traina walked in four batters before recording an out while playing a day after suffering a foot injury.
8 Timber Creek (Orlando, FL)13-140State's No. 1 ranked Class 6A team dropped its first game last week, 1-0, in a 9-inning nail-biter against Naples.
9 Sunnyslope (Phoenix, AZ)9-142Sunnyslope has beaten Bellaire out of Texas and has a team batting average of .417. Nora Maschue is a force on the mound with a 0.89 ERA with 76 strikeouts in 55 innings.
10 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, CA)3-012The Monarchs could be playing Sheldon at the Livermore Stampede tourney later in the season. Their pitcher, Keilani Ricketts, is just coming into form after another long basketball season, just not quite as long as last year when Mitty played in the state championships.
11 Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC)6-0NRChelsea Wilkinson struck out 33 batters in three games as Alexander Central won a tournament last weekend. The team's biggest win so far, though, was by 3-0 over Butler, which snapped Butler's 65-game winning streak.
12 Valencia (Placentia, CA)8-126Head coach Donna Lee's team is again doing the Arizona TOC and Faster to 1st double dip. Her squad made it to the finals in Arizona where it lost by just 4-2 to Norco.
13 Broad Run (Ashburn, VA)2-031It looks like Judy Betz is going to be a worthy successor to Caitlyn Delahabba in the circle for head coach Ed Steele's club. Broad Run, last year's No. 1 team, opened up with a 6-1 win over Oakton, Va.
14 Niceville Senior (Niceville, FL)12-0NRFlorida's No. 1 ranked Class 5A team defeated rival Pensacola Escambia, 2-0, last week to remain unbeaten.
15 Cibola (Albuquerque, NM)7-018Melissa Martinez tossed her fourth no-hitter of the season and had 17 strikeouts as Cibola rolled on in the Land of Enchantment last weekend with a 9-0 win over La Cueva of Albuquerque.
16 Lawrence E. Elkins High (Missouri City, TX)19-416Elkins has played a tough schedule and, despite the four losses has managed to beat some top teams, including Tomball, Katy, and Pacifica (Calif.). Kelsey Thornton and Amber Garza are the big bats in the lineup. Thornton is batting .607 while Garza is at .500.
17 Red Bank Catholic High (Red Bank, NJ)2-017It's still very early in the season for All-American pitcher Brittany O'Donnell and her team.
18 Barrington (Barrington, IL)3-020Kim Cygin went 2-for-4 with a triple and pitched a complete game as the top team in Illinois beat Zion Benton last weekend in the title game of its own Spring Fling tournament.
19 Chamberlain (Tampa, FL)11-0NRThe traditional power has given up only six runs in 11 wins but the toughest challenges remain on the schedule.
20 Bowie (Austin, TX)19-45Bowie moves down after taking four losses early in the season. Two of the losses were close, a 1-0 decision with Pearland and a 4-3 game with Alvin. Bowie also still has leadership and pitching with Blaire Luna.
21 Santiago (Corona, CA)4-16The Sharks drop down 15 spots from where they were in the preseason due to a loss to M.L. King of Riverside. They are in the same league as Norco, though, so they can easily come back up.
22 Space Coast (Cocoa, FL)15-0NRRanked No. 2 in Class 4A behind Naples, this unbeaten team faces a brutal schedule in the next two weeks. Included are state-ranked Gulliver Prep and Tampa Chamberlain plus either Niceville or Pembroke Pines.
23 Buena (Sierra Vista, AZ)7-2-1NRThis Arizona team also makes it to the FAB 50, having only lost two games: one to Canyon del Oro, and the other to Red Mountain. The one tie comes from a tough Sunrise Mountain squad, but Buena came back and beat that same team later in the week.
24 Sunrise Mountain (Peoria, AZ)9-1-14The one loss and tie came from Buena early in the season, but the team has won its last six games and is looking to take the streak deep into league and playoffs. Pitcher Jamie LaBovick and Arizona-bound Brigette DelPonte on the field and at the plate have led the squad.
25 Simi Valley (Simi Valley, CA)4-0NRThe Pioneers have a lot of pitching back from their team that went unbeaten last year until the last game. If the position players keep improving, they could make a splash at the Nike Faster to First tourney. Simi Valley wasn't in the tourney a year ago.
