FAB 50 Rankings

The first FAB 50 rankings were compiled weekly for the 1999 football season, with boys' basketball following later that year. Although they weren't weekly, that year also featured the first FAB 50 national rankings in girls' volleyball, girls' basketball, baseball and softball.

In recent years, FAB 50 national rankings have been added in boys' and girls' soccer and in boys' volleyball.

In 2008, with ESPN RISE, the FAB 50 changed its format to allow for more voting and input from a panel than ever before. The panelists include National High School Sports Hall of Famer and ESPN RISE senior editor Doug Huff, veteran preps reporter and ESPN senior writer Chris Lawlor (who did national rankings for 10 years while with USA Today), ESPN HoopGurlz editor Glenn Nelson and ESPN RISE deputy sports editor Mark Tennis.
