Melanie Roche

Australian softball players have long complained that the country's universities treat the sport more like a club activity than a legitimate competitive enterprise. Which explains why so many have followed a path to the U.S., with none doing it better than Roche. She joined Oklahoma State in 1990 and immediately pitched her team into two College World Series. The right-hander finished her career with school records for shutouts, consecutive scoreless innings and single-season wins. But she was hardly done there. Roche turned her NCAA experience into four Olympic medals with Australia, no doubt cementing her induction into OSU's Hall of Honor last year.
