Jen Adams

In 1995, the 15-year-old Adams led Australia to the under-19 lacrosse world championship in Pennsylvania. And she liked what she saw. "I was enamored of the development of the sport here," she says. So when it came time for college, Adams chose Maryland. Dropping into that talent hotbed, she fit right in; the Terps won four straight national titles, and Adams finished her career as the NCAA's all-time points leader (445). Today, she coaches Loyola (Maryland) and remains in awe of the opportunities in the United States. "Just getting shoes and my uniform for free blows my mind," says Adams, who spends about $5,000 out of pocket for the honor of representing her homeland. "I know it's because of Title IX and the pioneers who fought for women to have those rights."
