COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Reigning national champions Connor Fields and Alise Post headline USA Cycling's men's and women's teams headed to the BMX world championships next month in England.

Fields has won three straight World Cup events and has emerged as a favorite to win Olympic gold in London. He'll be joined on the men's team by reigning Olympic silver medalist Mike Day, World Cup contender David Herman, Nic Long, Barry Nobles and Corben Sharrah.

Post is coming off a bronze medal at the recent World Cup stop in Randaberg, Norway. She's joined on the women's team by Arielle Martin, Brooke Crain, Amanda Geving and Amanda Carr.

All the riders on the teams funded by USA Cycling are still in the running to make the Olympic team. The U.S. is expected to qualify a full contingent of three men and two women riders.

The world championships are May 23-27 in Birmingham, England.
