I hope everyone has had a great week. As you all know postseason has finally arrived, and it’s my favorite time of year. This past weekend did not go exactly as planned at the SEC tournament, but it was still great preparation for regionals.
WNBA Cares Week is here again, and there are two things that I am thinking about and eager to be a part of: our New London Community Meal Center visit and the Heart of Hope Foundation. On May 23, my Connecticut Sun teammates and I will be serving dinner at the New London Community Meal Center.
We did it! We finished the Big 12 season exactly how we wanted, clinching the Bedlam series and the conference championship on Saturday, and finishing the sweep via a Keilani Ricketts no-hitter and a couple of Lauren Chamberlain home runs on Sunday.
The New York Stock Exchange can trace its origins back 221 years, to May 17, 1792. At one time, the opening and closing of trading was marked by a gavel, and then later by a gong. Today, a bell signifies the opening and closing of business, and, since 1995, celebrities and athletes have been taking part in the action.
Since the last blog, Texas A&M softball won our series against Mississippi State and traveled to the SEC tournament in Lexington, Ky. With the way the seedings worked out, we faced Alabama in the opener and dropped a tough back-and-forth loss.
I am very lucky. I have been at a magical, beautiful, place for the past two years. This place has allowed me to grow as a person and has taken me on countless adventures. That place is the University of Southern California.
With three games in the past week and a half, the Chicago Red Stars have been traveling a lot lately. And there are challenges that come with such a schedule. We do all the old tricks to help our bodies recover during the crazy travel calendar: compression pants and compression tights on the plane, ice baths after workouts and games, and hydrating like it's our job, which I guess it pretty much is.
This is my first post as an official graduate of The University of Texas! So to begin this entry, I’d like to say thanks and Hook ‘Em. We wrapped up our conference season Sunday with a win over Baylor in the ninth inning on a very emotional Senior Day.
¡Bienvenidos a Barcelona! It's the fourth stop on this year's X Games global tour. The Spanish city hosted the Olympics in 1992, but this is the first time that X Games will be held in the country. The Moto X, RallyCross and Enduro X competitions will take place at Olympic Stadium, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies in 1992 as well as the track and field competition.
I got some great and unexpected news Wednesday. Corinne, our sports information director, texted me that morning and said she had a big surprise for me.I was extremely eager to find out what this big surprise was and went into the team room to find out.
Let me tell you, it is pretty cool to be in a training group with the athletes who'll be my biggest competition at the 2014 Sochi Games. I just wrapped up a great month in Scottsdale, Ariz., training alongside the reigning world-champion bobsled duo, Canadians Kaillie Humphries and Chelsea Valois.
Training camp, in my opinion, is the best possible time to jell with your teammates. It really brings everyone together, and I can already feel the bond we are creating as a team on the Mercury. Everyone understands what our goal is and how hard we have to work to get there.
First we want to send congratulations to the 64 teams who made it into the 2013 NCAA tournament. For the Alabama softball program, this makes 15 in a row. Our coaches, players and staff couldn’t be more excited.
Three days shy of her 17th birthday, Jessica Watson set an unofficial world record when she became the youngest to sail nonstop, solo and unassisted around the world. On Oct. 18, 2009, the Australian teenager took to the open seas from Sydney, Australia and, seven months later, sailed back into Sydney Harbor to complete her 23,000-nautical-mile voyage on May 15, 2010.
I just got back from driving in the Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300 in Brazil and am getting started with practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500, but I wanted to say how much fun I had filming “IndyCar 36’’ while in Brazil.
