Yani Tseng's smile conquers nerves, competition
Yani Tseng says she's relieved to have the first win of the season under her belt.
World No. 1 Yani Tseng is blogging for espnW throughout the LPGA season. This is the second entry from Tseng, who won the LPGA Thailand this past weekend.
Wow, I won! I really want to share my happiness with you. The victory in Thailand was my first win of the year and made me very happy and touched. I am surprised how time flies as I have already finished two tournaments this season.
But it's good to be back on the course and competing in the tournaments because it is what you work hard for. I learned a lot in the first tournament in Australia. You learn from your mistakes, and I think it's a good thing as long as you learn something. You can improve a little bit from every tournament.
Right now I feel a sigh of relief, and the pressure is gone. I guess I placed a lot of pressure on myself because I want to win so badly. I have to thank my team for their tolerance during the past two weeks and their encouragement whenever I was feeling down and emotional.
I was really nervous in the last round of the LPGA Thailand. I never imagined I would make myself that nervous, because I thought everything would have been fine as long as I kept my consistency. I always remind myself to keep smiling and to focus on every shot. I like to smile. I smile even when I'm nervous since it calms me down and shows my friendliness. That is why I like to smile and why I want to conquer everything with that smile.
Many fans came to the club and cheered for us last week. Thank you! You've made this tournament a special one. I am in Singapore for the next tournament, and I hope to meet many fans and friends there. I will keep working hard!
