To win a fantasy hoops league you've gotta have some balance. While it's true that it's more fun to have the highest scorers, points is still just one category. When a guy hits a layup, it helps in points and it's a field goal, but it's still not the same as a home run in baseball. When Barry jacks one, it's a homer, an RBI, a run, helps the batting average ...
So points aren't overrated, but if you've got only scorers, you won't win. Who's getting you blocked shots? Do you have the point guards? Are all your scorers shooting 70 percent from the line? I've seen teams draft scorers, win points and still finish last. It can happen.
I got to thinking, what would be the ultimate fantasy hoops team so far, five weeks into the season? Let's go position by position and build a winner. You'd lose assists, threes and rebounds by a lot.
