Chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon is expected at Turner Field for Monday’s series opener between the Mets and Atlanta Braves.

Wilpon also appeared in Atlanta on May 17, with the Mets having limped into the city after getting swept in a four-game series at Florida. That time, Wilpon had a high-profile meeting with Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel behind closed doors in the visiting manager’s office as players incredulously observed.

This time, Minaya will not be in attendance. And a team official said Wilpon planned to drop off Ricco and watch one game before continuing on to Port St. Lucie, Fla.

SI.com reported Minaya and Ricco met with the Mets ownership group today in New York. A team official acknowledged the meeting, but said it was “routine.”
