10:08 p.m.: David Wright's 18th homer, a solo shot in the eighth off ex-Yankee Mark Melancon, evens the score at 3.

9:38 p.m.: Nelson Figueroa departs after 89 pitches, having limited the Mets to two runs on four hits. Houston 3, Mets 2, top sixth.

9:11 p.m.: Hunter Pence's three-run homer in the first inning off Johan Santana has staked the Astros to a 3-2 lead through three innings.

Game notes: Jerry Manuel said he would not put newly promoted Ryota Igarashi in a close game with a lead late. "There are guys I will use when you're ahead and late," Manuel said. "I wouldn't put him in that category right away." ... Mets players had been told Sean Green was being promoted. One even texted him asking if they wanted to share a ride to Minute Maid Park. ... Rod Barajas' rehab assignment continues in St. Lucie on Tuesday night.
