ATLANTA -- Kyle Farnsworth and Jose Valverde as a lockdown back end of the bullpen? That's been the pattern of late.

The duo combined with Carlos Torres to retire the final 11 Atlanta Braves batters Thursday, as the New York Mets won the rubber game 6-4.

Mets relievers combined to toss nine scoreless innings in the series.

"I think the more those guys go out, the more comfortable they're going to feel," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "You know, Washington has got a great club. We didn't pitch very good. There's no question about that out of the bullpen. But our bullpen has done a good job ever since. They're starting to get comfortable. They're starting to understand what they've got to do."
