The last time a pitcher broke up a no-hit bid that late into a game was Sept. 18, 2003 when Scott Randall of the Reds singled off Kip Wells of the Pirates with two outs in the sixth inning.

Meanwhile, the Mets note this was the second time in 10 career starts Gee went into the sixth inning with a no-hitter against Washington. He tossed five no-hit innings in his major league at Nationals Park on Sept. 7 before now-teammate Willie Harris opened the sixth with a homer.
