Jason Bay is expected to be activated from a season-opening stint on the disabled list on Thursday, for the series finale against the Houston Astros at Citi Field, the Mets announced.

Bay will continue his rehab assignment for a left rib-cage muscle strain with Class A St. Lucie for two additional games.

He met with GM Sandy Alderson, manager Terry Collins and trainer Ray Ramirez on Monday at Citi Field. The group determined Bay ought to play two more rehab games. However, with cold weather affecting the Mets' Triple-A Buffalo and Double-A Binghamton affiliates, Bay was sent back to Florida for more rehab games.

Buffalo's game Monday already has been postponed in anticipation of a light snowfall.
