Like left-hander Pat Misch, infielder Luis Hernandez has decided to remain with the organization and will report to Triple-A Buffalo. Both players had the right to declare free agency after clearing waivers.
GM Sandy Alderson said Hernandez will get plenty of action with the Bisons.
"He will play second. He'll probably play some short. He may play some third as well," Alderson said. "But we expect him to play quite a bit. Right now, if something were to happen to Chin-lung Hu, Luis would probably come in as the utility infielder. So it's important that they all get playing time [Hernandez and Justin Turner], but Hernandez is somebody we want to make sure is ready if the need arises."
