Ruben Tejada headlines the group of players informed they are being relocated to minor league camp.

The list of 11 reassignments also includes right-handers Josh Stinson, Tobi Stoner, Manny Alvarez , John Lujan and Armando Rodriguez, infielders Zach Lutz and Jordany Valdespin, outfielders Fernando Martinez and Kirk Nieuwenhuis and catcher Kai Gronauer.

Tejada is slated to play shortstop at Triple-A Buffalo, potentially to prepare him to become Jose Reyes' successor should there be a trade at midseason or Reyes walks as a free agent after the year.

"You never know what happens tomorrow," Tejada said. "I'm ready. I work hard everyday. Terry [Collins] is the manager. He knows what he needs to do. I'm good."

Tejada broke camp with the Mets a year ago with Reyes still getting back into shape following thyroid issues. He then settled into second base during the second half, overtaking Luis Castillo.

Tejada, 21, said the best thing about last year was gaining experience.

"I'm really happy for that," he said.

Stoner, by the way, has been dealing with a shoulder impingement and is throwing at 90 feet on flat ground.

The moves reduce the total number of players in Mets camp to 45, and excludes Ronny Paulino.
